+ Who Should Attend?

This course is for the First Aid Appointed Person(s) or those requiring the Emergency First Aid at Work Qualification.

+ Course Content

• Understanding the role of a First Aider, including reference to; the importance of preventing cross infection,the need for recording incidents and actions and the use of available equipment
• Assessing the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and efficiently in an emergency
• Administer First Aid to a Casualty who is unconscious (including seizure) and use of the recovery position
• Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation, including use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
• Administer first aid to a casualty who is choking
• Administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded and bleeding
• Administer first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock
• Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries including; small cuts, grazes and bruises, minor burns and scalds, small splinters

+ Who Should Attend?

This course is for those requiring an initial First Aid at Work Qualification. It may also be more suitable for those who are re-qualifying after a period of time where their full First Aid at Work qualification has expired.

+ Course Content

• Understanding the role of a First Aider, including reference to; the importance of preventing cross infection, the need for recording incidents and actions, the use of available equipment.
• Assessing the situation and circumstances in order to act safely promptly and effectively in an emergency
• Administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious (including seizures)
• Administer Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation
• Administer first aid to a casualty who is choking
• Administer first aid to a casualty who is bleeding,including nosebleeds
• Administer first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock
• Administer first aid to a casualty with:injuries to bones, muscles and joints, including suspected spinal injuries; chest injuries; burns and scalds; eye injuries; sudden poisoning; anaphylactic shock
• Recognise the presence of major illness including; heart attack, stroke, epilepsy, asthma, diabetes
• Administer first aid for a casualty with a head injury
• Provide appropriate first aid for bruises, minor burns and scalds and small splinters.

+ Who Should Attend?

Anyone wishing to renew a First Aid at Work certificate. Please note: Delegates attending the re-qualifying course must submit evidence of a First Aid at Work certificate prior to course commencement. Failure to do so will mean the individual will not be able to achieve the qualification.

+ Who should attend?

• Those within a Paediatric setting supporting a full Paediatric First Aider
• Individuals (including Parents or Carers) who wish to know how to assist a child or baby in the event of a medical emergency
• Meets Department of Education requirements for a Paediatric Emergency First Aid provider
• Minimum requirement of First Aid qualification for all newly qualified entrants to the Early Years workforce since 30th June 2016

• Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) includes simulated paediatric (infant and child) basic life support, including safe use of the Automated External defibrillator
• Wounds and bleeding, bites and stings
• Recognition and management of choking
• Seizures including Febrile Convulsions
• Management of the unconscious Patient

This course meets the requirements set out by Ofsted for Early Years Professionals and is valuable for all those working with children.
